| Shopping A visit to Bangkok must surely include a shopping excursion, and Pantip Court is perfectly placed to provide convenient access to the finer retail outlets as well as Bangkok's liveliest shopping and entertainment street, Silom Road. Embassies Close to Pantip Court are some of Bangkok's major embassies, including those of the United States of America, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Belgium, France, and Denmark. Bangkok's Immigration Bureau is also very close to hand, just a couple of minutes away by taxi, where you can extend visas for your stay in a matter of minutes. Office Buildings Pantip Court is located at the heart of one of Bangkok's leading commercial avenues - Sathorn Road. Regional offices of major multinational companies are within easy reach, in offices that include Empire Tower, Bangkok City Tower, Silom Complex, Sathorn City Tower, Q House Lumpini, Q House Sathorn, Rajanakorn Building, and Sathorn Thani Tower 1 & 2. Entertainment The variety of entertainment in Bangkok has made the city renowned around the world for its lively hospitality and interesting mix of cultures and styles. To sample the spirited side of the city's nightlife, Silom Road and Patpong are a short walk or an even shorter taxi ride away - offering lively and colorful streets packed with numerous bars with a host of vivacious and cheerful customers, as well as Patpong's world-famous night market. Meanwhile, close at hand are the chic and popular bars in hotels, including The Met Bar at the Metropolitan Hotel, or the Vertigo Bar and Restaurant with spectacular views of the city atop the Banyan Tree hotel, both of which are a short walk away from Pantip Court on Sathorn Road. Golf and Fitness It isn't unusual for business deals to be clinched on the golf courses of Bangkok, and the city is sprinkled with driving ranges and golf courses to suit either your corporate entertainment, exercise, or relaxation needs. Mahamek driving range is a five-minute drive away towards Soi Ngamduplee; while Bangkok's closest 18-hole course is just 20 minutes away at the Muang Kaew Golf Course. In close proximity is Lumpini Park, the biggest park in the central business district and a favorite for early morning jogging and early evening aerobics (an instructor leads an aerobics session every evening around 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm). The park also consists of a huge lake with paddle boats and is sometimes the venue for musical performances. Cultural Attractions Bangkok is a historic and colorful city, with canals, temples, markets, and palaces that visitors from around the world find intriguing and alluring. Take time out to visit perhaps Thailand's most beautiful attraction in the Old Town - the Grand Palace, or Wat Phra Kaew - home to the Emerald Buddha, Thailand's most revered Buddha image. Built in 1782, Wat Phra Kaew is a royal temple built within the grounds of the Grand Palace. Nearby is the equally famous Wat Pho, with its famous Reclining Buddha statue and home to the most famous Thai massage school, with experts on hand to add an hour of welcome respite to your sightseeing trip around the Old Town. Centrally located attractions are also conveniently placed within short distances by subway, BTS SkyTrain, or taxi from Pantip Court. Considered by some to be the father of the Thai silk industry, Jim Thompson not only left a legacy of fine craftsmanship and design, but his home - a structure of adjoining traditional Thai wooden houses - is a lasting legacy and a haven of peace and tranquillity just a short walk from the National Stadium BTS SkyTrain station. A ten-minute drive away is one of Thailand's most famous sporting arenas - the Lumpini Stadium, home of 'Muay Thai' or Thai boxing. Throughout the week, Lumpini Stadium hosts many evening bouts of this artistic sport, which remains steeped in tradition and culture. |
